We support Black undergraduate students in the Waterloo Region who are:

  • Pursuing careers in any field, including finance, technology, media, consulting, healthcare, engineering, research, skilled trades, education, government, politics, law, and more.
  • Interested in entrepreneurship, leadership, and professional development.
  • Seeking meaningful connections and career guidance.
  • Committed to building successful and impactful futures.

Why We Exist

Waterloo Young Black Professionals exists to create a supportive community where students can develop the skills, connections, and confidence needed to thrive in their chosen fields.

What We Provide

WYBP offers focused programming to help members navigate the modern world of work and/or business ownership, including strategy workshops and networking opportunities. Through this, WYBP equips Black students with the clarity, skills, and connections needed for long-term success.

Shared Responsibility

WYBP focuses on empowering Black undergraduate students, while recognizing that meaningful impact is built through collective effort.

We welcome collaboration from students and recent grads across all post-secondary institutions in the Waterloo Region and surrounding communities, as well as partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and individuals dedicated to uplifting the next generation of Black professionals.

Message From the Founder

This space was created to bring Black students together, to connect across ambitions, share experiences, and support one another as we build our futures.

I believe growth happens when we’re exposed to different ideas and perspectives. When we collaborate, we don’t just grow individually, we elevate each other and create lasting impact.
